Reducing her energy bills wasn’t the only reason Elizabeth Tovey chose to get solar panels for her home. She’d always fancied them and says, “I think it’s a wonderful idea using the sun to warm us up.”

In March 2014 she engaged the services of Cheltenham-based Forever Green Energy to install 16 panels on the roof of her house.

After acquiring three quotes she opted for Forever Green Energy because “they seemed the best and were fairly local.” She also found another aspect of their service invaluable. They put her in touch with other customers allowing her to get honest feedback on the product and service before committing to solar panel installation.

Elizabeth says she can’t fault Forever Green Energy. From the customer service to the solar panel installation process itself, “They were wonderful. Absolutely marvellous. They were very prompt, tidy and the installation was done very quickly. And they always answered any questions I had.”

Almost 18 months on and Elizabeth is already benefitting from “huge savings.” Not only has she reduced her gas bill by 20%, but she’s also reduced her electricity bill by 50%. In the first year she received £700 through the Feed-In Tariff and continues to receive payments for both the energy she generates and the excess she exports back to the national grid. As she puts it, she’s a “very satisfied customer.”

Elizabeth is keen to utilise other renewable energy technology to save even more money in the future. In fact, she’s considering battery storage to store the excess energy generated by her solar panels, enabling her to benefit even further from the energy she generates.

It would seem that good judgment runs in the family, “I recommended solar panels to my daughter who also had them installed by Forever Green Energy and she is very happy with them too.”
