We’ve all become accustomed to the handy performance stickers on appliances which allow us to make informed choices about energy efficiency before we make a purchase. An Energy Report, also known as an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), is effectively the same thing for properties.
Why do I need an Energy Report?
An Energy Report rates the efficiency of your building from A to G (the former being very efficient and the latter being inefficient) and its carbon emissions. It’s also an effective way of highlighting how home improvements could save you money on your energy bills and improve your building’s energy efficiency rating.
EPCs, which are valid for 10 years, are required by law if you are wishing to sell your property. They’re also important if you wish to take advantage of the Government’s Feed In Tariff for solar panels. You can find out more about EPCs on the Government website.
