What is renewable energy?
Renewable energy is generated from natural sources that release far less carbon than energy generated from fossil fuels. These natural sources include solar, wind, hydro and geothermal which are naturally replenished.
Where can I find advice on renewable energy solutions?
You can find lots of information about all of our renewable energy solutions in our Services section.
What green technology solutions does Forever Green Energy install?
We install many green technology solutions including solar panels, air source and ground pumps, double glazing, wall, loft and roof insulation. You can find more information about all of these in our Services section.
What is solar PV?
Solar electric systems utilise solar photovoltaic and thermal panels to harness the sun’s energy to generate renewable energy and reduce energy bills. See our Solar Panel section for more information.
Why should I install solar panels?
Solar panels allow you to generate renewable energy to heat your home and lower your energy bills, as well as earn money by selling energy back to the grid. See our Solar Panel section for more information.
How do I look after my solar panels?
Solar panels are low maintenance but may require cleaning occasionally. They can last up to 25 years if looked after properly and treated to scheduled maintenance tests. See our Solar Panel section for more information.
How long to solar panels take to install?
We can usually install solar panels within one day. Our team are very efficient and tidy when working on your home and we pride ourselves on our great customer service.
What are Feed In Tariffs?
The Feed In Tariff incentive allows you to make money from the electricity you generate through solar panels. Your energy supplier will pay you a set amount of money for each unit of electricity you generate and use. If you generate surplus energy you can sell it back to the grid. See our Feed In Tariff section for more information.
What’s an air source heat pump?
Air source heat pumps extract heat from the outside air and pass it through a compressor housed in a unit located outside of the building. Ideally the unit is either situated on the ground or wall mounted in a sunny area, although this is not crucial. The compressor increases the temperature of the extracted air enough to sufficiently heat under floor heating systems, radiators and water. See our Heat Pumps section for more information.
Will a heat pump heat my water sufficiently?
Yes it will heat your water to about 55°C, which is usually sufficient for hot water and heating your home. This lower temperature maximises energy-efficiency.
How long do heat pumps last?
Heat pumps are pretty durable and can last for more than 20 years with minimal maintenance. See our Air Source Heat Pumps section for more information.
Is there a grant available for heat pump installation?
Grants are no longer available, but you may be eligible for the Government’s Renewable Heat Incentive scheme. See our Renewable Heat Incentive section for more information.
What is the Renewable Heat Incentive?
The Government’s Renewable Heat Incentive hopes to encourage more homeowners and non-domestic sectors to embrace green technology. By doing so, participants who generate and heat domestic buildings via renewable energy are rewarded with quarterly payments over seven years. See our Renewable Heat Incentive section for more information.
How can I improve my property’s energy performance rating?
Our team of assessors can carry out an Energy Report to identify ways in which you could make improvements to the energy-efficiency of your building. This could be through installing renewable energy solutions, such as solar panels and heat pumps or through roof and loft insulation or double glazing. See our Energy Report section for more information.
